Mark Judson - Abbeye de l'Etoile 21/22 Septembre 2014

During the week-end of the Journees du Patrimoine on 21st and 22nd September the Abbey de l’Etoile is open free of charge between 2pm and 6 pm. this cistercian abbey dating from the 12th century is set in in a beautiful landscape and has a wealth of treasures waiting for you.

You can also see Mark Judson’s paintings and ceramics on the Saturday and Sunday. On the Sunday there will be a performance of medieval music with over 30 instruments and the chance to try some of these out!

There will also be a conference by Mr Pierre de Meuse and the dedication of his book.

L'abbaye cistercienne de l’Étoile vous attend, nichée depuis le 12 ème siècle au cœur d’un vallon verdoyant. Vous pourrez découvrir cette glorieuse abbaye dotée d’une superbe salle capitulaire classée ainsi qu’une adorable petite chapelle dédiée à la Vierge.

Un programme très riche vous est proposé pour les journées du patrimoine

Samedi et dimanche rencontre avec Mark Judson peintre et potier. Mark est inspire par les textures et les couleures des paysages naturels toujours changeantes en raison des alterations et de l’erosion. Il est aussi inspire par le pholosophie japonaise d’authenticite – Wabi Sabi – rien ne dure, rien n’est fini, rien n’est parfait.

Dimanche 21 septembre, le jardin du cloitre résonnera de la musique médiévale de la compagnie Pastourel. Découverte d'une trentaine d'instruments et possibilité de tester ses dons musicaux.

Enfin pour clore la journée l'Association de la sauvegarde le l'Abbaye propose une conférence sur les cathares. Conférence animée par Mr Pierre de Meuse, historien qui dédicacera son livre.

Directions: From St Pierre de Maille head towards Angles sur l'Anglin.  After the garage (Plaud) and grain silos there is a small crossroads. Turn right onto the D5 direction St Savin.  You will see our signs on the right hand side after about 1.5km.

The Chapelle is rarely open to the public so this is also an opportunity to see the beautiful stained glass windows in this charming chapel.  The riverside of this stretch of the Gartempe is very picturesque, with a lovely view back to the village of St Pierre.
